  1. Dear Wren,
Wow, already your "color comps" are, in my eyes, perfectly accomplished fine art in a so sophisticted techniques. Thank you for sharing the process that teaches me lot. Wish you good luck, but I know not luck, your great abilities and talents make it happen.
    Cheers, Sadami

  6. Sadami - I'm glad you see the special quality in the color comps. I didn't think much of them other than tools to get to an end, but as I do the finals, I am beginning to appreciate the unintended color effects and radiant qualities of color that I can't seem to make happen again in the final paintings.
Marine, welcome to the blog - I guess the roughs sort of give everyone a glimpse of what's in my head and what I'm striving for.
Craig, I usually don't do this sort of prep work, but after being frustrated with unsuccessful attempts at getting this story down, I've decided that I need to impose this sort of rigor on myself - due to my wild and inconsistent illustration style. The final pages are being painted at 10x15.
Scott - Thanks for the encouragement - you make it all look so easy on your blog.
Thanks Danny - I guess the pencils allow your mind to fill in so much, they express so much potential - and in that way, the final painted pages will never be that beautiful.
My firefox died on my computer, so its hard for me to post and comment - I need to do this from another computer till my own computer gets fixed. I will try to continue to post the development of this sequence of pages.
