  7. Really really cool job Wren, the atmosphere, the color ! What is your paper's format ? you worked on arche paper ? The result is very beautiful. How many time you takes to make a page ?
    keep going ! :)

  8. Thanks so much - you all are the best and you definitely help push me to keep at it and finish this project.
Scott - I'm not sure about ten fold, but knowing your subject really helps create the details that sell the thing. Sadami, I can't ALWAYS create nice work, I just get darn lucky half the time. Kate, you're on for Salsa!
Jukillo - thanks buddy - I know my stuff gets a bit loose some times, but it sounds like this round looks pretty finished in your eye. Alexiev, thanks for dropping by.
Javier and Marine, you guys over in Spain and France are some of the best comic artists around - flattered by your interest. Marine - you raise an excellent point about how many attempts does it take to execute a page.

Watercolor is unforgiving. There is no correcting a mistake. I can do a knockout job on eight panels on a page and if I botch panel no. 9 and can't live with it - I have to toss out the page and start over. Page no. 4 was a disaster. I threw out two attempts of that page (9x15), done, complete - as good as I could make them, and they weren't good enough. I've only resorted to cut and paste on one original, but the rest are complete pieces of original artwork. Such is my unprofessional approach.

  14. Hey Wren, thanks for the kind comment on my blog. It's always a huge honor to hear your praise.

I hadn't seen these pages for some reason. They are so incredible, it is rare to see comics so beautiful. Some of these images reminded me of gazing mesmerized at precious gems at the natural history museum.

I am a huge fan of comics, especially painted ones and imo your work is up there with the work of Jon Muth and Esad Ribic

  15. Wow, you're just amazingly skilled, this is impressive. I thought there were no comic artists left in the United States who did all the color work by hand... I'm so pleased to see how wrong I was.

And by the way, thank you so much for your nice comment on my work, I really appreciate it.

  16. Marine, you are too kind. Just keep creating your own great work. Peter, I've known your work for a long time, so its an honor to have you drop by. Danny, Muth and Esad! Just hearing those names and the same sentence give me goose bumps. Jordi, thanks so much for stopping by. I will finish this project some day and it will be an actual complete comic and not just a collection of rambling pages. Thank you.

  17. In fact, I am a little bit embarrassed, I hope my english is good, because those questions, about techniques, paper, and others things, is not because I would want to do the same techniques, but just because this is interesting to know how the artist realize his arts ! How he enjoys working. Those things always interested me. I got already my own technique and it evolve with me :)
