  1. Wren these are gorgeous pages. You mentioned on my blog you were worried about the placement of text/space issues but I don't see any problem there at all. Great work!! I hate to compare artists, but your water colours remind me of all the things I like about Jon J Muth. Really nicely done you know how to wield a brush!

  3. These are indeed gorgeous! The page(s) third from the bottom are especially striking as the colors on the right side are very striking; reminds me of Parrish's palette.

Terrific stuff! And thanks for your continual support of my own work, it's been so appreciated. Hope your holidays and New Year was fantastic!

  4. Craig, you know by now that I'm using your blog as an on-line class in story pages and general illustration genius. That last post you did of the folk tale with notations to your editor was so great to see!

Anyone not familiar with Craig's blog should check it out.

Rico, thanks for staying in touch. Please let me know when you think I'm going off in the wrong direction.

Ms. Patricia - I appreciate your input - Muth and Parrish - I'm honored by the comparison. Its hard to keep up with your creative output, you've always got great new stuff every time I drop in.

  6. Very nice work, cant say I've seen comic panels like this before, the lighting effect from the painted colours and places where the white is left comes out really effectively.

  7. Thanks for stopping by Eoghan and Rich. Looking back on these pages now, they are sort of a mess - very distracting and confusing to look at - I will be working on hammering some harmony into them this summer. I might also team up with someone who knows what they are doing with type and graphics.

  8. Hey Wren, I don't think you need any advice from me! These are so good. Had to check in again. Wonderful painting in all and the design is great too.

I wanted to be a water colour paainter when I started down this road of commercial illustration. I adored Muth! Still do. Looking at these makes me want to paint again! Water colour has an almost spiritual dreamlike quality to it that no other medium can capture. You do it too well.
